Aquaponics Operation and Troubleshooting AQP 202

Participants will learn about the management, operation, and troubleshooting of an aquaponic system in a friendly and fun atmosphere. Topics for the class are:

  • Testing schedule and equipment

  • Water maintenance and supplementation

  • Daily, weekly, and monthly tasks

  • Fish stocking, feeding, and rotation

  • Maintaining an aquaponic system through all 4 seasons

  • Keeping your bacteria happy

  • Addressing fish or plant disease

  • Diagnosing and fixing plumbing problems

Participants will receive a fact sheet with all relevant information.

Doors open at 5:30 for social meet n' greet. Feel free to bring your own snacks or beer. Class starts promptly at 6:00 because we have a lot of learning to do!

Conversation and Q & A can continue past 7:00, but may have to migrate to a nearby establishment depending on daily building schedule.

Class is taught by Brian Filipowich, Director of Anacostia Aquaponics and Chair of the national Aquaponics Association. Class takes place on Cultivate the City's beautiful rooftop farm, above Jenks Hardware Store.
